Syncronorm GmbH has recently finished the installation of our Depence system into the renovation of the Longwood Gardens Main Fountain Garden project.
We are proud to be a part of this spectacular historical fountain system that was originally constructed in 1931 by Pierre du Pont. A lover of technology and hydraulics, du Pont created was the Main Fountain Garden after visiting many of the great fountain gardens of Europe. The Main Fountain Garden entertained millions since it was first turned on in 1931, but with time, aspects of the garden began to falter and du Pont's masterpiece required some tender loving care.
The Longwood team decided not just to make a few repairs, but to revitalize the entire fountain garden, stone by stone. The $90 million project not only restored the garden to its original grandeur, but also added many new enhancements and features including new lighting, new fountain features, and new mechanical systems all housed in an underground tunnel network.
Syncronorm were involved to integrate our Depence Control System into the new Fountain. We started by giving the in-house Longwood Programmers a full 3D environment so they could start programming shows and coming up with ideas long before the Main Fountain Garden project was completed. We then provided training of the software and hardware to the Fountain Programming team covering all aspects of Show Programming and setup.
Syncronorm then worked with the main contractor (Bancroft Construction Company) to commission the system and integrate it into the secondary control system which handles water management and safety systems. We were then extremely pleased to be invited to provide additional show programming for this wonderful project.
This unique fountain system is now ready to delight guests at Longwood Gardens for many years to come and is receiving many great reviews. The Longwood Team has created a fountain garden that honors the legacy and spirit of Pierre du Pont's original vision, but also creatively uses innovative technology, just as Mr. du Pont did.
