Behind the Scenes at Golden Sea

Ten days on-site, countless refinements, and one massive vision brought to life. @makuberlin and @mm_schelesnow built the visual backbone of Golden Sea’s new Performing Arts Center using Depence, powered by a grandMA3 and a setup of more than 880 fixtures.

Behind the Scenes of an Exceptional Visualization Project for Golden Sea

Between the initial planning and the final delivery, @makuberlin and @mm_schelesnow spent ten intensive days on-site programming, days in which we refined the original concept. The project took them to the new Performing Arts Center and showroom of Golden Sea, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of moving lights (including brands such as Ayrton).

Depence: Building the Visual Foundation

@makuberlin and @mm_schelesnow then transferred the complete model into Depence, where it was prepared for the client preview. A grandMA3 console served as the control system for the visualization. total, the setup included around 880 fixtures. A considerable scale, especially given the technical complexity of the space.

The Challenge: Accurately Representing Kinetics

One of the key challenges was the integration of kinetics. All trusses in the venue are mounted on C1 chain hoists, making realistic simulation of movement essential.

Together with Marc Marlo Schelesnow, who acted as operator and co-designer, they developed a solution: the kinetic movements were implemented using TouchDesigner in combination with the MA3. This allowed us to visualize the truss motion precisely and present the client with a highly realistic preview.
